Contents (6)

Clauses (1)

  • Arc flash incident energy, 2018 model

The arc flash tool uses this model by default. It finds the arcing current at three test voltages and interpolates. It corrects the energy for the enclosure size. It runs again at the reduced arcing current and reports the higher result.

    Arc flash calculator.

Tables (5)

  • Coefficients for the intermediate average arcing current

The arc flash tool reads the arcing current coefficients for each electrode configuration at 600 V, 2700 V and 14 300 V.

Verified: read against the printed standard, pages 23 (PDF 24). Checked 1 Oct 2026.

    Arc flash calculator.

  • Coefficients for the arcing current variation correction factor

The arc flash tool reads the variation factor coefficients. They set the reduced arcing current for the second pass.

Verified: read against the printed standard, pages 24 (PDF 25). Checked 1 Oct 2026.

    Tools that read it:

    Arc flash calculator.

  • Enclosure size correction factor coefficients

The arc flash tool reads the enclosure size correction for VCB, VCBB and HCB. VOA and HOA take no correction.

Verified: read against the printed standard, pages 28-30 (PDF 29-31). Checked 1 Oct 2026.

  • Coefficients for the intermediate incident energy and arc-flash boundary

The arc flash tool reads the incident energy and boundary coefficients for each configuration at the three test voltages.

Verified: read against the printed standard, pages 26 (PDF 27). Checked 1 Oct 2026.

  • Typical bus gaps, enclosure sizes and working distances by equipment class

The arc flash tool reads the typical gap, box size and working distance for the equipment when you leave them blank.

Verified: read against the printed standard, pages 37, 40 (PDF 38, 41). Checked 1 Oct 2026.
