Cl 7.9.2, Cl 7.9.3 and Cl 7.9.4

Electric vehicle charging circuits, New Zealand

The EV charger tool reads one row per charging mode. Each row gives the final subcircuit capacity, and whether other points share that circuit. It gives the residual current device and its alternative, and the RDC-DD detection level. It also gives the isolating switch rating and the mounting height. Clause 7.9.3.3 prints the Mode 3 and Mode 4 capacity for single‑phase final subcircuits. The row carries that qualifier. A fifth row holds Clause 7.9.4, the clause for an installation that is not domestic. That row carries residual current device figures alone. A null means Clause 7.9 states no figure for that row. The RDC-DD level is the one figure from a NOTE rather than a clause body. The tool prints it as a note. Each device row also says whether the clause sets a separate device in every live conductor. Clause 7.9.3.2 prints no device for Mode 2. So for a domestic Mode 2 facility, the tool adds the 30 mA of Clause 2.6.3.3.1. It reads that figure from the RCD table. Clause 7.9 applies in New Zealand only.

Verified: read against the printed standard, pages 413–415. Checked 26 Sept 2026.

Units: Min circuit capacity A A, Rcd milliamps mA, Rdc dd trip milliamps mA, Isolator rating A A, Min height mm mm
