Pass, caution and fail

The three colours a result can carry, what each one states, and the difference between a standards table AmpSize has verified and one it has only derived.

AmpSize uses three colours to state a check's outcome, wherever one appears. The same reds and ambers also mark a destructive action, an inline error or a stale value. Decoration never borrows them.

Green is a pass: the primary value met the check it was set against. On Loop impedance, the primary value is Zs. At or under the maximum permitted Zs for the device, it reads green.

Amber is a caution, not a failure. On Loop impedance, a warning appears in amber when the entered Ze is close to the limit. Close means 90 percent or more of the maximum Zs.

Red is a fail: the primary value did not meet its check. A serious warning also counts as a fail. A calculator with no check to run shows its value in plain ink, neither pass nor fail.

Every standards table AmpSize reads carries a verification status. A verified table has been read against a source, such as the printed standard or manufacturer data. The date it was checked is on record. A derived table has not had that check yet.

A calculation that reads a derived table shows a "Data under review" badge next to its title. It shows on every result the calculation produces, until the table is verified.
