An Australian calculation, such as Cable size set to AU, reads its cable tables from AS/NZS 3008.1.1. It gives the current-carrying and volt drop values. Two editions of that part exist: 2025 and the superseded 2017 edition. New Zealand's part, AS/NZS 3008.1.2, has one edition, so its calculations carry no edition choice.
An Edition select appears on an AU form only, right after the Standard select. A new AU calculation starts on 2025. Choosing 2017 reproduces an older design on the superseded tables.
Both editions read the same reference conditions: 40 °C air and 25 °C soil. The 2025 tables renumber, and some current ratings move; d.c. ratings now extend to 1500 V.
A saved calculation or a shared link with no edition recorded reads 2017, forever. This keeps an old link's answer stable even after the default edition moves. A New Zealand link never carries an edition key at all.
