How this is calculated
The tool gives the retest interval for portable electrical equipment. It checks test readings against the limits of AS/NZS 3760:2022. It does not print a tag.
- Interval. You pick the environment, from 1 to 8. The tool reads the retest interval for that environment and the equipment class from Table 2.4.
- Earth continuity. For Class I equipment, the tool reads the earth continuity limit from Cl 2.4.3.1 and compares your reading.
- Insulation resistance. It reads the minimum insulation resistance for the equipment from Table 2.2. Your reading must not be lower.
- Leakage current. Table 2.1 gives the leakage limit. The tool checks it only when you enter a reading.
- RCD trip time. Table 2.3 gives the trip time limit for a portable or fixed RCD. A permanently wired RCD with external timing uses Cl 2.4.3.4.
- Records. Cl 2.6.2 sets how long you keep the test record. The tool states that period.
| Step | Table or clause | What it decides |
|---|---|---|
| Interval | AS/NZS 3760:2022 Table 2.4 | How often you retest |
| Earth continuity | Cl 2.4.3.1 | The highest resistance that passes |
| Insulation resistance | Table 2.2 | The lowest resistance that passes |
| Leakage current | Table 2.1 | The highest leakage that passes |
| RCD trip time | Table 2.3 and Cl 2.4.3.4 | The slowest trip that passes |
| Records | Cl 2.6.2 | How long you keep the record |
Worked example
- Class I equipment in environment 2. Environment 2 covers flexing cord, abuse or a hostile place. The retest interval is 12 months. The tool keeps the record for 7 years. An earth reading of 0.4 Ω passes against a limit of 1 Ω. An insulation reading of 25 MΩ passes against 1 MΩ.
Limits
The tool reports the interval and compares the readings you type. It does not run a test. It does not print a tag. Cl 2.5.2.1 says what a tag must carry. Check the tag against that clause.
The tool gives one interval for one environment. Equipment used in more than one environment needs your own decision.

He aha te mahi a te taputapu Test and Tag?
Ka whakaatu te taputapu i te wā retest mō te taiao e kōwhiria ana e koe. Ka whakaatu i ngā wā push-button me te wā mahi mō tētahi RCD pōkai, mahi tūturu rānei. Ka whakaatu i te rohe pass mō te leakage current, te earth continuity me te insulation resistance. Kātahi ka arotake i ngā uara ruri i tangohia e koe.
He aha te auau me whakamātau ai ngā taputapu?
Ka whakatau a AS/NZS 3760:2022 Table 2.4 i te wā wehe e ai ki te taiao. Ka hoatu e ia he 6 marama mō ngā wheketere, ngā wāhi mahi me ngā horoi ārai pēnei. Ka hoatu e ia he 12 marama ina nekeneke te taura, ina whakatū rānei te wāhi, ina tuwhera rānei ki te whakamahi kino. Ka hoatu e ia he 5 tau ina kāore e pā ētahi o ēnei, ā, he 2 tau i ngā wāhi noho o ngā hōtera. Ko ngā taputapu tuku he 3 marama.
He aha ngā rohe pass?
Me kaua e neke atu i te 1 ohm te ara whenua whakamaru. Ko te aukati insulation he 1 megohm, ōrite mō te Class I me te Class II. He 0.05 megohm mō te PRCD functional earth, he 0.01 megohm mō tētahi element wera sheathed. He 5 mA te leakage mō te Class I, he 1 mA mō te Class II.
He wā trip pēhea me tutuki e tētahi RCD?
Ko Table 2.3 e whakaatu ana i te 300 ms mō tētahi taputapu 30 mA Type II, me te 40 ms mō tētahi taputapu 10 mA Type I. Ko Clause 2.4.3.4 e whakaatu ana i ngā wā ōrite mō tētahi RCD i waea pūmau ki roto i te taputapu, ā, i ine ai ki waho. I te putanga 2010 i whakaatu te 150 ms i reira, nō reira ka whakaaetia tētahi RCD mau i waenga i te 150 me te 300 ms.
Ko tēhea putanga e whakamahia ana e te taputapu?
AS/NZS 3760:2022, i tāna tā me Amendment 1. Ko ngā rohe me ngā wā wehe e rite ana ki te putanga 2010. Ka tāpiri a Table 2.4 i ngā taputapu hoko tuarua, ā, ka tohu ki AS/NZS 5761. Ka tūtohi a Clause 2.6.2 i te 7 tau ina pupuri rekoata, ā, ka tuku ki te mana whakahaere.
