How this is calculated

The tool reads AS/NZS 3000:2018 Clause 5.5.3.2 for where a cable screen, drain wire or armour is earthed. It then states what that choice does to hum loops and touch voltage.

  1. Role. You pick what the metal does, such as an EMC screen.
  2. Clause case. The tool matches your role, your earthing need and your double-insulation answer to a case in Cl 5.5.3.2.
  3. Arrangement. It gives the earthing arrangement for that case. For an EMC screen against hum, this is one end, at the origin.
  4. Continuity. It reads Cl 5.5.4.3 for the continuity the screen needs. The screen and its fittings stay continuous.
  5. Concern. It states the effect on your concern. One earthing point leaves no closed path through the screen, so no hum loop forms.
  6. Construction. It adds the catalogue note for the screen type. This is maker data, not a Standard.

Worked example

A foil and braid EMC screen with a hum loop concern. The tool gives one end, at the origin, from Cl 5.5.3.2(b). Continuity is required.

Limits

  • The tool gives the safety arrangement of AS/NZS 3000. It does not give an EMC design.
  • No document the tool holds backs earthing both ends for EMC. Check the device maker guide or IEC 61918.
  • The gland advice is an AmpSize recommendation, not a requirement.
  • The tool does not check the current rating of the screen.

Kei hea te whakawhenua o te screen taura?

Ka whakaingoa a AS/NZS 3000:2018 Clause 5.5.3.2(b) te pito timatanga, ā, kāore he tatau o ngā whakawhenua. Whakawhenuatia he screen, he armour, he sheath e hiahia ana ki te whakawhenua i te wā e puta ana te taura i tōna papa hiko, i tōna accessory rānei. Kāore te paerewa e whakaingoa ana i tētahi whakaritenga e rua ngā pito, nā reira kāore taputapu e hoatu ana.

Ka mutu te hum loop ina whakawhenua i tētahi pito?

Āe. Ina kotahi te wāhi whakawhenua, kāore he ara kati mā te screen, nō reira kāore he iahiko e porotī ana i roto, ā, kāore e hanga he hum loop. Ko te whakawhenua i te screen i ngā wāhi e rua ka hanga taua ara.

Āhea te screen e kore ai e hiahia he whakawhenua?

Ka hoatu a Clause 5.5.3.2(b) i ngā exception e rua. Ko te tuatahi, me whai insulation rua i waenga i te screen, i te braid rānei, me ngā kaikawe ora. Me whai hoki he taupoki kore-kawe-hiko ki runga i te taura. Me noho matara ia hono me ia whakamutunga i ngā wāhanga ora me ngā wāhanga kawe hiko kua takakitea. Ko te tuarua ka uru ki ngā keehi katoa ka waiho e Clause 5.4.1.

Ka taea te screen te whakahoki hei kaikawe whakawhenua?

Āe, i raro i Clause 5.3.2.2(ii), me tētahi tikanga mai i Clause 5.3.2.3(b). Ko ngā kaikawe ora katoa e whāngai ana i ngā taputapu me rere i taua taura ōrite. Ka tono anō Clause 5.5.4.3 mō te continuity, me tētahi impedance e rite ana ki te kaikawe whakawhenua parahi.

Nō hea mai ngā tohutohu hanga screen?

Mai i ngā kaitohu HELUKABEL me LAPP. He raraunga kaihanga tērā, ehara i te paerewa, ā, ka tohua e te taputapu pēnei. Ka mahi te braid mō te raru iti-auau, te foil mō te raru teitei-auau. Ka uru ngā kaitohu ki ngā taputapu mutunga anake. Kāore rātou, kāore hoki a AS/NZS 3000, e tautoko i tētahi whakaritenga e rua ngā pito.
