    The plan guide no longer counts a builder room's points twice

    • On a House builder project, the plan guide skips rooms whose lighting points are already on the Build tab.
    • Power every room skips rooms whose socket-outlets are already on the Build tab.
    • Each kind counts on its own. A room with builder lights but no socket-outlets still gets power points.
    • The Lights and Power steps say how many rooms they leave alone, and count those rooms as done.
    • Rooms with no builder points get lights and power points as before.
    • A plan made on v83 that already holds both sets keeps them. Delete the drawn points, or the builder points, to count them once.
    • The quote's and the bill of materials' figure headings sit right aligned over their figures.
    • On a phone, the quote's "Labour, min each" heading no longer runs into "Total".

    Wire a house end to end, with calculations on each circuit and a name on every document

    Where a clause requires additional protection, RCD selection now reads "Required, 30 mA". It names the RCD type where the clause does. The figures and the verdict do not change. A saved RCD selection shows the recomputed notice when you open it again.

    • The house Supply step offers a network connection, a transformer on the premises or a temporary supply. A temporary supply draws dashed on the single-line.
    • Ze comes from the fault level tool, or from the transformer's fault current.
    • Choose the main switch rating from the standard list. The demand is checked against it on the Supply step and the Overview (AS/NZS 3000 Cl 2.3.3, derived).
    • A compute sizes the consumer mains from the whole maximum demand. Edit the route length and method on the Supply step.
    • The Supply step shows the MEN system and the main earthing conductor for the mains size (Table 5.1).
    • Add a garage, sleep-out, shed or workshop board with its submain. Each row states the outbuilding earthing rule and its clause.
    • The Overview's Supply chain gives Zs at each board. It checks the voltage drop from the supply point against 5 %.
    • Each final circuit reads its voltage drop against what its board has left.
    • A new Surge Protection tool says whether AS/NZS 3000 Section 2.7.3 requires or recommends a device. The rule is derived, and the tool says so.
    • The house single-line shows the supply, the mains, the main switch, the RCDs, the surge device and the sub-boards.
    • Each room on the Rooms step is a closable section with its point count and load. On a phone, rooms start closed.
    • The circuits grid scrolls sideways in its own border, so no column is cut.
    • Save on any calculator offers "Attach to" a board, a circuit or a tagged plan item, with a role.
    • A builder circuit row lists its attached calculations, with the headline figure, Pass or Fail, revision and date.
    • A circuit row opens six tools, such as Cable Size and Loop Impedance, with the circuit's figures filled in.
    • When a circuit changes after you attach a result, the result reads stale. Recalculate from circuit runs the tool again.
    • The schedule lists an attached calculation under its circuit. The single-line draws a ticked box on a checked circuit.
    • Detach takes a calculation off its circuit, board or item. The calculation stays in the project, and the change log records it.
    • Loop impedance takes a measured Zs and checks it against the Table 8.1 maximum, with its margin.
    • RCD selection, earthing and outbuilding earthing now show check rows, each with the clause it reads.
    • Next-tool links sit under "Open the next tool", outside the result. Compare starts with what changed.
    • Yes or no inputs on the calculators are now checkboxes.
    • Account > Profile takes your practising licence number, its class and its expiry. Reports print it beside your name.
    • The calculation, project, schedule, evidence, test sheet, certificate and label PDFs end with one attribution block.
    • The figures line names the engine version and data date that /api/health reports.
    • The CoC and ESC form now carries the class of registration and the testing done, with its standard.
    • Project details take a job stage: design, rough-in, fit-out, final or issued. The stepper prints it.
    • A new test sheet takes a stage. It shows only that stage's tests and tick rows, and judges only those readings.
    • The schedule's Tested column gives each circuit's newest staged result. A circuit on no staged sheet reads "Not tested".
    • The first reading dates a test sheet with the day in the sheet's country. A sheet issues only with a test date.
    • No certificate form fills today's date for you. A draft certificate prints "Draft. Not a certificate." on every page.
    • Project settings hold the type of work. The test sheet PDF prints the instrument, its serial and a signature line.
    • Shared links print the owner's name and licence, never their email or phone.
    • Sign in with no page asked for and land on the project you changed last.
    • An empty project shows one start action first. Finish the House builder and go on to the plan or the schedule.
    • A preset on the project's Plan tab fits the builder's rooms and keeps their points.
    • Switch every room is new. Light, switch and power each room in two clicks.
    • A drawn submain run sets the submain's length, and the bill of materials names its size.
    • The job stepper marks Build done once circuits exist, and names each step after the tab it opens. On a phone it is one line.
    • Test sheet details save when you leave the field. Each save sends one request.
    • Below the lg width, a plan opens at the zoom that fits its floor. Fit and 100 % chips choose.
    • On the plan, the legend sits beside the drawing from a tablet width.
    • The Devices view keeps one line per device up to 1280 px. Headings never cut, and figures are right aligned.
    • A figure of five or more digits prints in groups of three, such as 10 040 W.
    • A wide single-line or circuit diagram says "Scroll sideways" while it is wider than its box.
    • A run's length sits on its longest segment. Counted items lead the plan count.
    • The quote's Total sits at the table's edge. On a phone, the bill of materials and the quote stay readable.
    • A phone can make and change share links on a plan's sheets.
    • The single-line and the job schedule number a board's ways in the same order on every load.
    • The phone app has field mode: big touch targets and a sunlight palette, set in Settings.
    • The app's project screen has quick actions for a photo, a note and readings. A tap confirms each save.
    • The app syncs when the signal and the app come back. The Sync screen lists waiting, refused and changed writes.
    • Delete account in the app's Settings opens the delete page on the website.
    • The app marks a circuit to recalculate, and shows the count of attached calculations under each circuit.
    • Text in the app is 15 px or more, and each screen has one accent.

    Delete your own account, and the privacy page says what goes and what stays

    • The account page has a Delete account section. It leads to a page where you confirm the delete.
    • Signed out, the delete page says what the delete removes and asks you to sign in first.
    • To confirm, type your email address or DELETE. The form works without JavaScript.
    • A live Pro subscription or a team you own holds the delete. The page links to the plan or team page that clears it.
    • The delete removes your sign-in, your sessions, saved calculations, projects, certificates, clients, branding, signature, share links and tickets.
    • Work in a team project stays with the team. Your calculations in it pass to the team owner.
    • You land on a page that confirms the delete, signed out. The confirmation mail goes to the address you signed in with.
    • Our database backups hold deleted data for up to 7 days. After that it is gone.
    • The deletion section of the privacy page is at /legal/privacy#delete, the address the Google Play listing links.
    • The privacy page also says how to delete one item and keep the account. That covers a saved calculation, a project, a draft certificate, a share link or a device session.
    • The console's delete and your own run the same path, so both leave the same record.
    • A confirmation mail that fails to send is recorded against the scrambled address, never the address itself.
    • A deleted team member's share links on team projects stop before their calculations move to the owner.

    Security update, the menu in your language, and a safer PIN change

    • The web framework moves to Next.js 16.3.8. It fixes flaws in share images, image fetches and page caching.
    • The image library moves to sharp 0.35.5, with a fix to how it reads SVG files.
    • The menu headings, the tool categories, the trades and the footer columns follow the page's language.
    • The learn level pages name their level in the page's language too.
    • Vietnamese and Filipino tool titles and descriptions now fit search results without being cut short.
    • A wrong current PIN counts toward the same five tries as signing a certificate.
    • While signing is locked, the PIN cannot change. Wait for the lock to end.
    • A signer who leaves a team can still read their certificates, but can no longer void or correct them.
    • The account export carries team clients and drafts only while you are in the team.
    • Site photos and notes have a limit of 120 saves an hour.
    • The tool icons load as one small file, so pages with many tools are lighter.

    Excel round trip, DXF plans, trial mails and team handover

    • The project workbook carries a Row id column and a hidden AmpSize stamp.
    • Import it on the project's import page. A cell-level preview lists changed, added and removed rows.
    • An import applies in one step and adds a project revision. Undo reverses it until something changes again.
    • A workbook AmpSize did not export is read as a circuit list, as before.
    • Importing a project workbook is on the Pro plan.
    • The DXF export puts each circuit on its own layer, with its tag at the middle of the run.
    • The floor outline and a legend are open polylines, so the DXF import reads the same rooms.
    • When a payment fails, a reminder goes on day 3 and a last one on day 7.
    • After a cancelled Pro plan ends, one mail lists what changed in AmpSize since the cancel.
    • That mail has a working unsubscribe link. The Mail section of the account page has the same switch.
    • Mails about your own plan, such as a failed payment, always go.
    • After a cancel, an optional question asks why, from a fixed list. We store the reason and its date.
    • The privacy page names these mails, the reason and the opt-out.
    • A member who leaves or is removed loses the share links they made on team projects.

    Answer pages, saved clients, certificates in review and the app on site

    • Answer pages cover questions such as the cable size for power points and how far 1.5 mm² can run.
    • Each answer opens the calculator with the same inputs. The guides list has a Questions section.
    • The job steps are Details, Boards and circuits, Calculations, Schedule, Evidence and Issue. Each opens the page that does the work.
    • Saved clients hold a name, an email, a phone number, a site address and a note. A team can share them.
    • A picked client fills the project's client and site address, so every report prints them. Saved clients are on the Pro plan.
    • Certificates of compliance, electrical safety certificates and records of inspection are drafted from a project.
    • To issue, the electrician ticks each statement, types their name and enters a signing PIN. AmpSize never ticks a statement.
    • An issued certificate is locked with its number. A correction is a new certificate that names the one it replaces.
    • Each issued certificate prints a link and a QR code that anyone can check. The check page shows nothing about the client.
    • In the app, readings typed on site are saved on the phone and sent when the signal returns.
    • Pro accounts take site photos and notes in the app. They show on the project's Evidence tab on the web.
    • A change sent twice after a lost signal is saved once.

    A shared page cache, and the site ready for a cache in front

    • Rendered pages are kept in shared storage outside the server's memory. Every server reads the same copy, and a restart does not lose it.
    • A page is written to the shared store only when its content changed.
    • When the shared store cannot be reached, the page renders as before. No visit fails because of the cache.
    • After a release, one warm-up round fills the shared cache for every server. The first visitor no longer pays for the render.
    • Your account, projects, saved items and signed-in pages are never kept by a cache in front of the site. The same holds for any response that sets a cookie.
    • Rate limits count the visitor's own address, not the address of a cache in front.
    • After a release, the cache in front is cleared. An old page cannot name files the new release does not have.
    • The health check reports the page cache's counters.

    • Health checks now take a struggling server out of service before it fails. New alerts watch memory and server errors.

    Teams for firms that share jobs

    • A team has one owner, who pays for its seats in one Lemon Squeezy subscription. The team offer opens on the account page once the Team plan is on sale.
    • The owner and admins invite people by email. An invite link works once, for 7 days, for the address it went to.
    • The projects list has two tabs for a team member: your own projects and the team's.
    • Project Settings moves one of your own projects into the team.
    • A member who leaves or is removed keeps no team project. Their work in team projects stays with the team.

    Android 0.5.0 with your account

    • Android 0.5.0 signs in through ampsize.nz with Google or an email link. Signing in is optional.
    • Saves made on the phone go up to your account at the first sign-in. A save past the free limit stays on the phone and says why.
    • A save renamed on the web shows on the phone at the next sync. Renamed on both, both are kept.
    • Starred tools are pinned at the top of the app's Tools tab, the same stars as on the website.
    • A saved calculation's PDF opens the phone's share sheet.
    • The account page lists the app's sessions. Sign out one, or sign out of all devices to end them all.

    An A$ price for Australian visitors

    • In Australia, pricing and the Pro offers show about A$4 a month or A$36 a year. The charge stays in NZ$, and the card issuer converts it.
    • An unknown /guides or /learn address now shows the 404 page in the site, in its language.
    • When a Pro free trial is offered, each Pro offer will give its length. A card is required. Anyone who had Pro before checks out at once.
    • When a trial is on, the account page shows the date it ends and when the card is charged.
    • After checkout, the return page says Pro starts once Lemon Squeezy confirms the trial or the payment.
    • Admins have a revenue page with the subscription counts and monthly revenue.
    • The new sentences are translated and reviewed in Chinese, Vietnamese, Arabic, Hindi and Filipino.

    Product videos, new diagrams and app links

    • A 30-second overview plays on the home page and on /app. The cable size page shows a shed job on a phone, sized at 10 mm² for a 70 m run.
    • The videos have play, pause and sound buttons, and captions in Chinese, Vietnamese, Arabic, Hindi and Filipino.
    • The MEN system page draws the MEN link, earthing, electrode and bonding. A second drawing shows the fault path.
    • The RCD page draws an earth fault with an RCD and without one.
    • The conduit fill, underground cables and derating pages draw each installation method in section. The names match the cable tools.
    • A learn page's level reads Foundation level, Working level or Advanced level in every language. Before, some languages showed a status word instead.
    • A shared calculation's card names the tool once and shows the value's label only when it adds something.
    • The site serves the file Android needs to open ampsize.nz links in the app.
    • The new sentences are translated and reviewed in Chinese, Vietnamese, Arabic, Hindi and Filipino.
    • Coming in Android 0.4.0: links to /tools, shared calculations, schedules and plans open in the app, in the link's language.
    • In 0.4.0 a shared calculation or schedule opens read only. A shared plan shows as a drawing or in isometric.
    • In 0.4.0 guides and learn pages update from the website and stay on the phone for offline use. Builder tasks open the web builder.
    • Also in 0.4.0: every button is at least 48 dp, and a reopened save shows its own values. Numbers with units read the right way round in Arabic.

    A shorter home page, one Pro list and lighter pages

    • The home page leads with one line for both countries and a Size a cable step by step button.
    • The trade picker is one line, Sorted for your trade with Change. Your order applies once the page loads.
    • Start a job is one list of six tasks. It ends with a link to every task.
    • On a phone the calculators fold into closed groups. The home page tiles drop the standards badges; /tools keeps them.
    • The home page, pricing, tools, guides and tasks pages come from one cached copy instead of being built per visit.
    • Pricing lists every Pro feature in groups. Each gate in the site names the same list.
    • Yearly is the first choice on pricing, with the saving over monthly stated. The buttons sit under the price on phones.
    • A Pro offer at a gate starts checkout in place. A guest who picks Pro returns to that checkout after signing in.
    • When a Pro payment fails, a line under the header links the customer portal. One email goes to the account.
    • The cancel answer and the account page name the Lemon Squeezy customer portal.
    • A page in Chinese, Hindi or Arabic loads its script font. Other pages no longer carry those fonts.
    • A signed-out visitor's page no longer asks for a session on load and on every tab focus.
    • A tool page carries its own presets only, and a missing page shows the 404 inside the site.
    • The sitemap dates each page from its content.
    • Share cards are drawn in each language, including Arabic and Hindi, and guide and learn cards are under 300 KB.
    • The /app page and shared calculations, plans and schedules have their own share cards.
    • New site icons: favicon.ico, a 192 px icon and a maskable 512 px icon for phones.
    • The new sentences are translated and reviewed in Chinese, Vietnamese, Arabic, Hindi and Filipino.
    • Coming in Android 0.3.4: saving, sharing and links say when they fail and offer Try again or Copy link.
    • Android 0.3.4 also lays the app out right to left for Arabic, and buttons grow with the phone's text size.

    Lighter pages in every language

    • The translated sentences a page sends to the browser no longer include their English copies. The browser rebuilds that side from the keys.
    • Page titles, descriptions and the phone app's own sentences stay on the server. They were a fifth of the dictionary.
    • Search engines and answer engines read a smaller page, and each replica holds less in memory.

    The app page answers the app search

    • The page title reads AmpSize for Android: cable size calculator app, NZ and AU. Store listings hold the app-search results, and a page without the region is passed over.
    • Two store screenshots sit under the Get it on Google Play button, the same files the app record names.
    • Five questions are answered on the page: free, offline, standards, iPhone and data. A FAQPage record states the same five.

    Indexed languages hold through a database blip

    • During the 11 to 13 October crash loop, each indexed language flipped between indexed and noindex as pages were rebuilt. The site now starts from the list recorded at the last release, and keeps the last list it read.
    • The Android app page revalidates every five minutes, like a tool page, instead of keeping one copy for a year.
    • The organisation record names the Play listing, the founding date, the country and the eight languages served.
    • The Android app record carries the version on the Play track, the release date and two screenshots.
    • Every page names the Atom feed. The site description for assistants links the feed, the tasks page and each language.
    • robots.txt names the search and answer engines' fetchers and allows them the whole site but the API.
    • The guides hub lists its guides as an ItemList.

    AmpSize for Android is on Google Play

    • The app page carries the Get it on Google Play button and its MobileApplication record names the install address.
    • The home page and the footer link to the store beside the Android glyph. Every other link still goes to the site's own app page.
    • The compare table, the state page and the assistants description now say Android, on Google Play.
    • The Android doc page says the app is free, with no ads and no in-app purchases.

    Index gate reads translated pieces

    • The index gate counted every published guide and learn page, translated or not. No language could turn green before its content was translated.
    • A page whose guide is not translated serves English at the English address, with no hreflang and no sitemap entry. It cannot put machine text in the index.
    • The gate now counts only the pieces that have a current translation. Each of those must still be reviewed.
    • The deploy seed now refreshes machine rows nobody touched since the last snapshot. A retranslation and the reviewers' corrections reach production. A reviewed row, or one an admin saved since, is never changed.

    Six glossaries

    • A language audit read about 480 strings per language against the English, with a trade reader beside the language reader. The main finding: without a glossary, terms such as cable size, switchboard, sub-main and maximum demand drifted between pages.
    • Each language now carries a glossary of about 250 terms, pinned to the renderings the audits chose.
    • Every page title, description, FAQ and site string was translated again with the glossary binding, in all six languages.
    • The reviewers' corrections stay as reviewed rows, so a later run never replaces them.
    • The Android app's steps heading is its own string, separate from the Working learn level.
    • The store listing names AS/NZS 3008.1.1:2025 beside 2017.
    • Languages still go into the index only when reviewed. The audits say which are ready; Māori waits for a native reader.

  20. v65

    Stays up, workspace and tools

    • On 10 October the site stopped answering for about two hours. Every page refreshed in any of the seven languages was written to the replica's small disk, until it was full.
    • The cache now lives in memory with a fixed ceiling. A page that falls out of it renders again on the next visit. A unit test keeps the setting in place.
    • The Android app no longer crashes at launch: plural forms no longer need a feature the phone runtime lacks. Version 0.3.1 carries the fix.
    • Copy result, Copy table, Download CSV and Share sit under every tool result. Share appears on a phone that supports it.
    • Cable size and voltage drop draw the cable run. Conduit fill draws the conduit section. Correction factors draw the derating chain.
    • The candidates table shows the chosen size and one either side, with Show all for the rest. Each row has a Check this size link to circuit check.
    • A plan run's conduit fill link carries the circuit's cable and country.
    • Duplicate project copies the builder rows and the plan, not only the calculations. A schedule row no longer appears twice when a plan run sized a circuit.
    • Export selected on the saved list downloads one file of calculations. Download my data on the account page returns a ZIP of your own rows.
    • A free account that holds more than the free limits sees a notice on the account and saved pages.
    • An empty project schedule offers the wizard and the House builder. A new calculation's default label reads like the job.
    • The project schedule sorts by column, groups by board and pages. It prints alone as a landscape PDF. The project exports as one ZIP with a manifest and CSVs.
    • A circuit list CSV imports into cable size calculations, with a preview and a refusal per row.
    • A share link counts its opens per day, and the reader can say Seen. A schedule has its own share link and QR code. The privacy and terms pages say what is kept.
    • The plan keeps named snapshots, duplicates a floor, saves your own templates, exports a PNG and prints a legend sheet.
    • Unsaved plan changes survive a reload and a conflict, field by field, and the save time shows.
    • Issued evidence, sheets and labels go through one report path. The project PDF reads issued numbers. The engine moves to 2.5.0, so a saved result from an older engine shows as stale until it is recalculated.
    • The search index per language reads the translated tool heading. The nine physics tools carry a No standard badge. Generator is now Generator current.
    • Learn pages gained a prefilled tool link each, and the content rows from the launch set are closed.
    • The sign-in page fits its card at phone width. The trade picker closes its last row.
    • The site description for assistants names the seven languages and the Android app.

  21. v64

    Six languages

    • Every tool, guide, learn page, standard and plan screen reads in six languages beside English.
    • A language switcher sits in the header and in the phone menu. The address carries the language.
    • The site copy, the calculator forms, the engine messages, the tasks and the plan builder go through one catalog.
    • Every translation is stored in the database, with its state: machine, reviewed, stale or needs review.
    • A new admin page, Translate, shows a board per language, a review queue and a side-by-side editor.
    • The editor marks placeholders, figures, units and clause references in both texts, and runs the checks as the admin types.
    • A glossary per language feeds every translation run, and a glossary change marks the strings it touches.
    • A language goes into the index only when every string and piece is reviewed. An admin can hold it off.
    • Hreflang, the sitemap and the robots line read that list.
    • A pseudo-locale wraps every string for an admin, so unwrapped copy and short fields show up.
    • Translations arrive from Haiku runners without an API key, or from the API when the key is set.
    • Content pieces carry a language, a source hash and a translation state. A stale translation renders English with a note.
    • The Android app reads the same catalogs and lets the reader pick a language in Settings.
    • The deploy seeds the database from the shipped catalogs and runs the index gate.

    Launch polish

    • The State of AmpSize page counts the tools, guides, learn pieces and standards pages, with the v70 goal table.
    • The changelog is in the site menu, and the tasks hub is in the footer.
    • The thin v39, v40 and v49 changelog entries are filled. The v53 and v55 entries point at the releases that carried their work.
    • Feedback on a page passes a Turnstile check beside the rate limit.
    • Metadata is in the first flush for every user agent, so the robots line is always in the head.
    • The sitemap renders per request and lists the family pages from the first request after a deploy.
    • The feed, the docs and the sitemap start a day at New Zealand midnight with daylight time.
    • The tasks hub is lighter: one rule for its 501 rows, and a slimmer list in the structured data.
    • After a deploy the home page, the glossary and the 24 standards document pages are warmed before traffic.
    • Compound words such as three-phase and single-core hold together with a non-breaking hyphen.
    • A range before a unit takes an en dash, and a negative figure takes a true minus sign.
    • Ib, In and Iz print with subscripts in the panel, the steps and the PDF. A clause reference never reads as "CI".
    • A multiplier of 1.00 shows in the panel, the steps and the PDF.
    • The voltage drop budget steps say "Part 1", "Part 2" and so on.
    • A guide's "Try it" prints the label with its unit, the option label, or Yes or No.
    • The standards rail returns to its top when the reader is back above the first card.
    • The glossary header rule runs full width, and on a phone a term's links are one line of text links.
    • Links on the about, contact, status, changelog and 404 pages are underlined in ink.
    • Handoff buttons name the tool: "Open in Voltage drop".
    • A select with long option labels wraps its face, so the max demand installation select reads whole on a tablet.
    • Wet area zones read in ink; only a failed check is red.
    • The detector-spacing task opens on a 24 by 9 m room, which meets the 7 m rule.
    • A guides or learn hub no longer preloads the hero image of every guide it links to.

    Compare pages, shorter

    • Each compare cell holds a short value. The date it was read sits once, under the tool name.
    • A cell shows its own date only when it was read on another day or from a search snippet.
    • WireWrite is read again: seven free calculators, an iPhone and iPad app, and certificates at NZ$5 a seat.
    • Each competitor page opens with one line on how the two tools differ.
    • AmpSize sizes solar PV strings, so the ElecCalc page no longer says it does not.
    • Tool questions open with one line, not two.

    • On the result step the step title scrolls with the page. It no longer sits over the result panel and the candidate table.

    Test sheets, evidence, issued reports and revisions

    Two test-result verdicts changed. A New Zealand RCD above 30 mA is now judged on the 500 ms property duty, not the 300 ms shock limit. A 100 mA RCD at 400 ms now passes. An Australian RCD trip time is recorded with no verdict, because AS/NZS 3017 prints no time. The engine is now 2.4.0 on the 2 Oct 2026 data.

    • Test sheets: one row per circuit with the AS/NZS 3017 limits for insulation, continuity, loop impedance and RCD time. Each reading gets a verdict.
    • The 3017 visual checks and the New Zealand checks before connection sit on the sheet, each by clause.
    • A test sheet prints as an A4 landscape PDF. It is free.
    • The evidence pack lists the data a certificate asks for, in AmpSize words. Each row names the regulator page and the date read. It is never the form, never signed, never lodged.
    • Each Australian state's fields are listed. A field the regulator does not state reads "Not stated on the regulator page".
    • An EV charger install record, with the SDoC, RCD and load-control facts and their sources.

    XLPE multicore cable now reads the XLPE reactance column of the 3008 impedance tables, not the PVC column. Below power factor 1, its volt drop falls by up to 1.7 % of its value at 400 mm². Cable size drops one step in rare long runs near the limit. Voltage rise and max circuit length rise by up to 1.7 %. Fault level on a large XLPE submain rises by up to 1.2 %. PVC cable, single-core cable, power factor 1, loop impedance and comms loop power do not change. A saved calculation that moved says so when reopened.

    • A page for each conductor size, copper and aluminium. It lists current ratings by method, impedance, volt drop and earth size.
    • A page for each breaker rating, with its trip bands, loop impedance limits and the cable sizes it protects.
    • A page for each verified table, with its values and the tools that read it. Search finds it by "table 8.1".
    • A page for each cable family in the library, open to everyone, with the computed bridge to the tools.
    • Search reads "2.5 mm2", "4mm", "C20" and "32 A RCBO" as lookups and opens the page.
    • The regulatory pathway tool takes a jurisdiction. Each Australian state gets its certificate, who signs, where it is lodged and the deadline. Every row names the regulator page and the date read.
    • The licence register and the lodgement portal are linked for every jurisdiction.
    • Labels print from a result: fault level, arc flash from the 2018 model, and the EV charger RCD. A guest can print them.
    • The PV and battery sign checklists list each sign by clause, in plain words.
    • Arc flash labels refuse a result outside the 2018 model's range and say why.
    • Device curve: a breaker's typical trip band on a time-current chart, with the cable's withstand line at both ends.

    • Power factor correction gains a one-motor mode, with the self-excitation limit stated.
    • Neutral current of an unbalanced star load, with the triplen case.
    • Voltage unbalance by the deviation and sequence definitions, with the heating rule of thumb.
    • Harmonics: THD, the triplen neutral current shared with cable size, and the K-factor.
    • Cable loss cost: energy, cost and CO2 over the life of a run, and the payback of a larger size.
    • Battery duty cycle: the ampere-hours of a stationary duty, with the maker's factors for the IEEE 485 sections.
    • Load schedule: the diversity across boards, each submain counted once on the board that feeds it.
    • Each new tool has a method note, five answered questions, four one-tap jobs, a guide and a learn page.

    Standards pages, search and your workspace

    • The standards hub is now one page per document, 24 in all. The index filters by clause or word.
    • Each document page lists its edition, the amendments applied, when its tables were last checked, and the tally.
    • Every clause and table card shows the tools that read it and the guides that cite it.
    • Old links into the hub forward to the new pages.
    • Search reads a clause or table reference, such as "cl 3.6.2" or "table 8.1", and lands on its card.
    • The edition line on a tool or guide links each standard to its page.

    Twenty new tools

    • Total voltage drop: add up to five parts of a run, from the consumer mains to the final subcircuit. The total is checked against 5 %, or 7 % from your own substation. It shows the drop left for a new circuit.
    • RCD arrangement: list the circuits on a board and the RCD each sits on. It checks which circuits need an RCD. It checks three circuits at most on one RCD in a home, two RCDs at least, and the lighting spread.
    • Outbuilding earthing: an earth with the submain, or a separate MEN, for a shed or sleep-out. It gives the earth and PEN sizes and the electrode depth. Combined outbuildings take the earth only.
    • Downlight clearance: whether a downlight class may go in a home or other building. It says whether insulation may touch or cover it, and gives the default clearances and the roof space sign.
    • Accessory location: whether a power point, switch or light may go beside a cooktop, near gas, or near the floor. Sinks go to the wet area zones tool.
    • Floor area demand: the maximum demand of an office, shop, warehouse or carpark from its floor area. It reads AS/NZS 3000 Table C3. Take the average, either end of the range, or your own figure. EV charging and special equipment add on top.
    • Spare capacity: the maximum demand of an existing supply by measurement or by limitation, against the main switch. Measurement takes the highest 30 minutes. Limitation takes a breaker setting, or the sum of the breakers fed. It checks a new load fits on each phase.
    • PV isolator and earthing: the string, sub-array and array cable currents from the PV string result. It rates the d.c. isolator for the inverter type. It gives the enclosure and the frame earth, by AS/NZS 5033.
    • Battery location: a check list for an all-in-one home battery, by AS/NZS 5139 Section 4. It covers restricted places, clearances to exits, windows and appliances, and the IP code. It also covers the barrier, the ceiling and the working space.
    • Motor circuit: one result per motor. It gives the full load and locked-rotor current, the cable and a breaker that rides through the start. It also gives the contactors, the overload relay and the isolating switch, for four kinds of starter.
    • Motor starting: direct on line, star-delta, autotransformer, primary resistance, soft starter and drive side by side. It gives the start current and torque of each, which start the load, and the dip.
    • Conductor colours: the active, neutral and earth colours of NZ and AU fixed wiring and flexible cords, old and new. Or pick a colour seen on site to see what it can be.
    • IP rating: what each digit and letter of an IP code means, by AS 60529. Or the least code AS/NZS 3000 sets for an outdoor socket, sauna, hosed area or switchboard.
    • Test schedule: the test sheet for a board. Each circuit gets the AS/NZS 3017 tests in order and its limits for insulation, earth, loop impedance and RCD. Print it with boxes for the readings.
    • Circuit chart: a board's circuit chart by way, with the MAIN SWITCH, MAIN SWITCHBOARD and solar labels it needs. Print it for the board door.
    • Cable tray fill: lay cables on a tray or ladder in one layer, touching or spaced. It gives the tiers, the kg/m on each, and the grouping factor for cable size.
    • Generator sizing: list the loads and the step each starts in. It sizes the set for the running load and each motor start, by DOL, star-delta, soft starter or drive.
    • RCD leakage budget: add the standing leakage on one RCD against one-third of its rating. It says when the RCD may trip, and how many RCDs keep each within budget.
    • Ohm's law: give any two of volts, amps, ohms and watts for the other two. It works d.c., single-phase and three-phase with a power factor.
    • Battery arc flash and class: the voltage class, hazards and fire level of a battery system. It gives the arc flash energy and PPE level by AS/NZS 5139.
    • Each new tool has a method note, five answered questions, four one-tap jobs, a worked guide and a learn page.

    • Under the result, one line names the check that sets the size. Two lines give the next size down and up.

    Groundwork for six languages

    • This release built the tools for translation. The site does not yet offer another language.
    • The planned languages are simplified Chinese, Vietnamese, Arabic, Hindi, Filipino and te reo Māori.
    • Calculator steps and warnings now use message templates, with the English wording unchanged.
    • A script finds every string on the site and writes the English catalog. The release check fails when the English list is out of date.
    • Reader-facing text goes through one function, so a translated catalog can replace it with no change to a page.

    Tables read against print, and checks as rows

    Wet area zones changed for a bath or a spa up to 680 L. A second read of the print showed that Zone 1 rises above a higher connection.

    • AS/NZS 1680.1:2006 Table 3.1 was read against print and marked verified. Table 3.2 stays under review because one value prints as "10.1".
    • AS/NZS 4282:2023 Tables 3.1 to 3.4 and AS/NZS 1158.1.2:2010 Table 14.4 were read again against print. They are now verified.
    • The AS/NZS 3000 Section 6 zone and RCD tables were verified, with three page and figure corrections. AS/NZS 3002:2021 show and carnival values were verified.
    • Seven tables stay marked derived. Each notes what is missing, and the standards hub shows the status.
    • The Checks block is a list: a mark, the check name, its state and its margin. The check that sets the size is labelled.
    • Steps show each clause on the right, and the PDF prints the same checks.

    Compare pages and links between pages

    • The Compare hub has one table of calculators, guides, standards edition, price and PDF export. Each page also says where another tool is the better choice.

    • The Wet area zones calculator reads AS/NZS 3000 Section 6 for twelve situations. The plan draws each fixture's zones on the canvas, the sheets and the isometric view.
    • The plan's Power step names wet-room fixtures and suggests no light or power point in Zones 0 to 2.
    • A floor exports as a DXF for free. Import a floor reads DXF rooms on Pro.
    • The underlay now prints faintly under the plan sheets, and the isometric view prints on its own A3 sheet.

    • New guides cover a bathroom layout, a car-park floodlight and a builder's pole.

    Wiring the house end to end in the plan

    • A placed sub-board becomes a board. The plan draws its submain from the main board.
    • A room can be fed from a chosen board, and its devices count to that board.
    • A supply point can be placed, and Make circuits runs inside the guide and shows a panel schedule.
    • A device can be pinned to a circuit. Compute keeps the pin and warns when a circuit has more points than it can take.
    • Every calculator now has a task entry that opens it on a worked example.
    • The Run menu on a device lists the calculators for that device, such as an EV charger or a board.
    • A luminaire's mount height can be typed, and a catalogue part supplies its lumens, watts and beam. The maintenance factor can come from AS/NZS 1158.1.2 Table 14.4.
    • Phone fixes cover clipped drawings, cramped legends, 44 px touch targets and chip rows.

    Lighting, the guided house and the light layer

    • The Lighting lumen calculator uses target lux by room use, working plane, room index, utilisation and maintenance factor. It gives a count, a grid and three checks.
    • The lux values come from AS/NZS 1680.1:2006 Tables 3.1 and 3.2. The tool marks them as under review until the printed pages are read.
    • The plan builder guide covers rooms, lights, switches, power, board and sheets. It opens by itself on an empty plan.
    • The Switch tool draws a switch-to-light arc. It prints on the lighting sheet.
    • The light layer shades each room against its own target and falls back to coverage rings without WebGL2.
    • The plan now edits on a phone, with one-finger pan and two-finger pinch.
    • Sheets mark each device with its circuit way, and the legend shows socket mount heights.
    • You can export a floor as JSON, export a drawing as SVG, and import a floor.

    Privacy-friendly page counts

    • The site now counts page views without cookies, local storage or a banner. It records the page, the referring site, device type, browser family, screen size band and country or city.
    • The privacy page has a new section describing the page counts.
    • A page left open during an update could fail when you saved. Updates now keep the same internal keys, so open tabs keep working.
    • The nightly search engine notice now tries three IndexNow endpoints in turn instead of retrying the same one.
    • The guides index no longer pushes a three-line title below the fold on a phone.

    Home tasks and clearer checks

    • The home page now shows task entries that open a calculator with a real job already filled in.
    • A notice on a calculator says when the figures on screen are example values. The notice goes away on your first edit.
    • The Cable size and Voltage drop calculators state the basis of the result. They mark the check that sets the size.
    • Each check reads Checked, Fails or Not assessed, from the calculator itself. The checks sit in a third column.
    • A PDF of a saved result that was recalculated says so. It gives the engine version and the date, and names the edition the recalculation read.
    • The menu groups tools by category in collapsible sections. The Tab key reaches each category heading and the links inside it.
    • The sign-in links on the Pricing page and the wizard follow the same pattern as the rest of the site.
    • Sign-in popups keep working: the site now sends a Cross-Origin-Opener-Policy header that allows them.
    • The links at the top of the home page no longer load the next page's script ahead of a click.

    Search engine submission

    • This release changed how the site tells Bing about new and updated pages. It did not change anything a visitor sees.
    • The nightly job reads Bing's remaining daily quota first and sends the newest pages first, up to that quota.
    • Bing's own submission route sends the pages. The IndexNow route did not work for this site.

    Result panel layout and page width

    • Labels and values in the result panel and the steps share one layout. A long value sits under its label.
    • The main result scales by length. A figure stays large, and a name or a sentence is smaller.
    • The page width limit rose from 1680 px to 2400 px. A 1920 px window shows three calculator columns. Guides and other reading pages keep their narrower line length.
    • The home page title and description now name the cable size calculator and AS/NZS 3008.
    • The five NZ-only tools have descriptions that name New Zealand and their standard or regulation.
    • The questions on the five most-searched tools are written as people type them, and each answer starts with the answer.
    • Search no longer loses a letter typed quickly just as the dialog opens.
